DJ Dubplates & Custom Cut Records
1 Up Multimedia provides vinyl mastering, custom record cutting services for audiophiles, jukebox collectors and independent record labels, and dubplate cutting services for professional DJ's.
After more than 20 years of digital audio, people worldwide are re-discovering the true quality of vinyl records. Vinyl is by no means 'dead' and has been making a comeback in recent years, with more and more new titles being pressed every day.
With over 30 years experience and improvements in amplifier and cutting components, our record cutting technology produces records of higher quality than ever before. We use freshly made, professional quality blanks in standard weight lacquer dubs as well as lighter weight heavier duty Reference Lite media for DJ use.
All standard speeds are available; 16 2/3 RPM, 33 1/3 RPM, 45 RPM, or 78 RPM. Large center hole 7 inch 45RPM blanks are available, as well as 10 inch 78 RPM records. Prices below include cutting suite time, blank media, a blank white or our full color in-house dubplate label with titles and side numbers (specify which you prefer when ordering) and an acid-free, archival quality white paper sleeve. 12 inch records include a glossy white cardboard jacket. Custom printed labels for dubplates are available at additional charge.
Send your source material to us on CD or DVD (in data or audio format), DAT, Minidisk, PCM-F1, audio cassette, or open reel tape in any 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch format. We ask that customers send .wav or .aiff format files in as high of sampling rate as your equipment is capable of. We can cut from .mp3 files, but do not recommend doing so because of the data compression used in this format. Editing and mastering services are available at additional charge.

The durability of a lacquer disc can be comparable to that of a vinyl pressing, but only if played on a properly adjusted turntable mechanism at an appropriate tracking weight (no greater than 3 to 5 grams), with a new or known-good, undamaged stylus. There is much debate over the durability of lacquers, with claims ranging from as few as 10 to as many as 50 or 100 plays. Lacquers will last a very long time and will withstand numerous plays if reproduced as described above. Rough handling, improper cleaning, playback with a damaged stylus, excessive tracking weight or use of a turntable that is not properly adjusted can cause excess wear or damage to not only a lacquer disc but a vinyl pressing as well. Many collectors have home-made or radio station lacquer discs made 40 or more years ago that with the exception of minor age defects, play today with nearly the same fidelity as when new. The audio recorded on a lacquer disc does not 'fade' (lose level), lose significant frequency response or become excessively noisy under normal use. They will last for many plays if cared for properly.
